Peer-assisted learning (PAL) has emerged as a significant pedagogical intervention in secondary education, demonstrating considerable potential for enhancing academic achievement. This research paper synthesizes contemporary literature on peer-assisted learning strategies and their impact on secondary school students' academic performance. Through a comprehensive review of peer-reviewed studies, meta-analyses, and educational evidence databases, this paper examines the mechanisms through which peer-assisted learning facilitates academic improvement, identifies contextual variables that moderate effectiveness, and explores implementation considerations. The evidence indicates that peer-assisted learning produces moderate to substantial positive effects on academic achievement across diverse subject areas, particularly in mathematics and science. Critical implementation factors include group composition, task structure, teacher facilitation, and student training in collaborative skills. The paper concludes by identifying research gaps and recommending future directions for enhancing peer-assisted learning interventions in secondary educational contexts.Downloads
